Natverbhai N. Amin

February 17, 1933 ~ May 31, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Natverbhai (Nat) N. Amin, 84, of Newtown, CT passed away on May 31, 2017 as a result of long-term heart disease.  He passed peacefully in his sleep, at home, and surrounded by his wife of 62 years and beloved family.

Born February 17, 1933 in the small town of Vaso, India, and the youngest son of a farmer, Nat was educated in Baroda, India and graduated from Baroda University with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree.  Married to his wife, Dakshaben, in 1955 they had their first 2 children – Jyotin and Mayuri in India.  Shortly after, Nat came to USA to attend Columbia University where he achieved 3 Masters Degrees in Engineering and his Professional Engineer (PE) designation.

Never originally planning to stay in the US, Nat took his first job in aerospace with the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.  Sending for his wife and kids they later settled in Metuchen, NJ where their 3rd child – Nisha – was born.  With a growing family, Nat moved into the Amin’s 30 year home in West Windsor, NJ where their 4th child – Tushar was born.

Living in NJ, Nat worked as an engineer for Trans World Airlines in NY City for the majority of his career.  In the years before retirement, his work took him to live in Mahopac, NY, Kansas City, MO and Liberty Twp, OH.   In his final years of retirement Nat and Daksha came to live in Newtown, CT with their son Tushar, and his wife and children – Meg, Naiya and Dhilan.  Plagued by Heart Disease, Nat lived out the final years constantly surrounded by family.  Over 2 years ago doctors gave him just weeks to live, but he surprised everyone with a strong, active 2 years of memories which family and friends will cherish.

Throughout his life, Nat’s hobbies and interests included reading, news, politics, tennis, bowling, cooking, keyboard, and helping to establish new Indian families immigrating to the US.  He is remembered as an intelligent, but practical and conservative man with a compassion for those who share in the American dream, becoming a citizen himself in 1987.
