Nancy DeSotto Obituary

Nancy Josephine DeSotto, 68, of Woodbury, CT, passed away on December 15, 2019 after a brief illness.

She was born on October 14, 1951 in the Bronx, New York, second of four daughters, to Mary and Phil DeSotto.

Nancy attended elementary school in the Bronx, and graduated from Lehman College of the City University of New York with a degree in Art History.

Nancy served as the producer of special events for Radio City Music Hall in New York City in the 1980s, and entertained and amused her friends with first-hand accounts of the various celebrities with whom she worked.  Ol’ Blue Eyes was a demanding, imperious, and difficult dictator, whereas Phil Collins was a kind and thoughtful gentleman.

Later in life, Nancy was a dedicated and devoted volunteer at The Red Barn Thrift Shop in Woodbury. She was never too busy to be your personal shopper or to lend a sympathetic ear to your woes and travails. She had a deep and abiding affection for all creatures great and small, and could often be found extending a warm welcome to the four-footed furry visitors to the Barn.

Nancy is survived by her sisters Phyllis Egan, Louise Amore, and Lucy (James) DeCaro, as well as nieces Elizabeth Egan, Susan Amore, and Nancy and Jaclyn DeCaro and nephew Anthony Amore. Nancy was predeceased by her beloved dog, Albert, in June 2019.
