Muriel Abrams Obituary

Muriel Ann Abrams, of Southbury, CT, wife of Sidney Abrams, died peacefully on June 30, 2018. Muriel was born on May 1, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Bessie (Bergstein) Albert. She attended public school and was a graduate of Brooklyn College in 1949, then continued her education there for additional Masters degree credits. She taught elementary school in New York City and in West Haven, CT where she and her family moved to in 1963. In 1978 she and her husband opened the Recreation Showroom. To this day the store, now known as Encore Billiards & Gameroom has remained a family business in Milford, CT.

In later years she and her husband moved to Heritage Village in Southbury. She was an avid painter and had many circles of friends. She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas where the two frequented more times than we can count. She was fun, she loved people and everyone who knew her loved her back.

She married her husband and partner, Sidney Abrams, the love of her life, on August 12, 1950 and were married for 62 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry  Abrams and his wife Catherine both of Milford, Edward Abrams and his wife Lorrie  both of Roxbury, her daughter Lynne Abrams-Cornwall and her husband David of Roxbury, three grand children, Jennifer Abrams of Westport, CT, Michael Abrams of New York City, Jayden Cornwall of Roxbury and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by three nieces, Linda Trastman of NY, Joan Most of MD and Barbara Seif of NY and  one nephew, Andrew Albert of NJ along with all of their children.
