Mona Dworkowitz, a long-time resident of Heritage Village in Southbury, Connecticut, died hours before her 81 st birthday, surrounded at home by her loving health care aides, Aida and Norma Ramos.
Mona was born in Brooklyn, New York and in her youth worked as a sales clerk at her family's pharmacy. She was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School and the New York Academy of Medicine, earning, with honors, her dental assistant license. Mona also pursued her passion for fashion as a designer in the garment district of New York City.
Mona, with her longtime partner, the late Jack Sheff, enjoyed growing vegetable at the Village community gardens, and maintained flower beds at her condominium unit. In addition, Mona was a skilled artist, working in both watercolors and oils.
Mona is survived by her sister, Susan Martin, of Cannon Beach, Oregon.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 at l 0:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, Connecticut.
