Mary Anna (Pavan) Bignelli, 91, widow of Sebastian J. Bignelli died April 10, 2018 in her home. Mary was born in Treviso, Italy on February 19th, 1927, daughter of Teresa (Nardari) and Vittorio Pavan.
Before her marriage in 1948 she was a resident of Middlebury where she worked for the Town of Middlebury in the Town Clerk’s Office. She moved to Woodbury in 1959 where she was employed by Region #14 as a Secretary to the Principal of Nonnewaug High School for 29 years.
She was a Charter Member of the Middlebury Women’s Volunteer Fire Department. She had graduated from Crosby High School and Post Junior College.
She is survived by her children, Antonia (Wayne) Totten of Indianapolis, Indiana, Monica Bignelli of London, England and John Bignelli (Karen) of East Hartland, Connecticut, 3 grandsons, Kyle (Laura) Totten, Trevor Totten and David Bignelli, a sister Anna Stolfi, two great grandchildren, Zoe and Ava Totten, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Mary’s greatest joys in life were her children, family, friends and books.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on April 21, 2018 with brief service to be held at 11 am at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department, 25 Quassuk Road or the Woodbury Ambulance Association, P. O. Box 581, Woodbury CT 06798.
A private burial will be held at New North Cemetery.
