Marian Frances Allegrini – Social Worker Serving the Elderly
Marian Frances Allegrini (Armstrong), 85, of Woodbury passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 at her home.
Marian was born in Fort Sheridan, IL on Nov. 26, 1932, daughter of the late Major George Armstrong and Elizabeth Armstrong (White). Marian was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago, IL. After high school she moved to Waterbury, CT and worked at Scovill Mfg. and Timex.
After devoting her life to raising her family, Marian proudly graduated from The University of Tampa. She was employed as a Social Worker for Pinellas County in Clearwater, Florida dedicated to serving the elderly community for many years.
In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, participating in activities at the Woodbury Senior Center, playing cards with friends at the Spruce Bank Community Center, and nightly walks to “the bench” to view the sunset.
Marian is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Hogrefe and her husband Mark of Woodbury; two sons, Robert Allegrini and his wife Lisa of Cheshire, and Donald Allegrini and his wife Joanne of Hamden; two brothers, Joe Curto and George Armstrong of FL; four grandchildren, Nicholas Hogrefe and his wife Kayla, Julie Cronin, Dominic Allegrini, and Gina Allegrini; several nieces and nephews; and a best friend and companion Kandy.
She was predeceased by her brother Bob Curto, former husband Hugo “Moe” Allegrini, and her beloved cat Tiffany.
A Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, at 11:00 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 146 Main Street South, Woodbury. Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury is in charge of arrangements. Calling hours are on Friday, Nov. 2 from 9:15 am to 10:45 am.
