Kenneth Ronald Winters passed away on January 5th, 2019, following a long illness. Born in Danbury on July 17, 1948, to Louis and Helen (Dennis) Winters, Ken was a longtime resident of New Milford before settling with his loving wife Zdena (Jaros) in Heritage Village, Southbury in 2009.
Ken served in the US Army from 1967-69 with an honorable discharge. He was employed by Ridgefield Public Schools, where he retired after many years of service as foreman of the facilities department. He founded and served their staff union during his tenure. He was a jack of all trades.
Ken enjoyed painting, and his artwork survives him. He was an avid music lover, and had a special place in his heart for blues guitar. Ken loved a good meal, a good game of pool, good talk and stories, and was always ready to laugh uncontrollably at a good joke. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his wife Zdena, Ken leaves his son, Kenneth R. Winters, Jr. of New Milford; his brother Louis Winters and sister Helen Gilotti, both of Florida; his stepdaughter Paulina (Jaros) Pietrorazio and son-in-law Dean of Middlebury; his grandchildren Deanna and Morgan Pietrorazio of Middlebury; and his many friends from New Milford, Ridgefield, and Southbury.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on January 19th, 2019, at the Heritage Hotel in Heritage Village, Southbury, CT, and all family and friends are invited to attend. Though there is no expectation of gifts, in lieu of flowers or care packages, Ken would have appreciated donations in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
