Joan Pronovost of Southbury was born on the 29th of September, 1932 in Waterbury, Ct., daughter of the late Pierre and Mary (Hope) Pronovost, died after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis on June 6, 2018 at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain. She attended Waterbury schools and was employed with the Uniroyal Company in Naugatuck throughout her entire career. Joan was a avid golfer, artist, traveler and enjoyed skiing, movies, playing guitar and painting. She was a volunteer at the Palace Theater for 10 years. She belonged to a hiking group and a Lunch Bunch group. She enjoyed dining out at different restaurants. She is survived by her sister Marcelle Pronovost Crean of Middlebury and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Ralph & Paul Pronovost, sisters Harriet Stevens, Eloise Sevigny and Lorraine Roberson. She also leaves behind her 2 precious cats Pia & Tanner who she loved, adored & lived for. She was a parishioner of Saint Teresa’s Church of Woodbury. There will be a Funeral Mass on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main St., Waterbury. The family would like to give their most sincere thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful staff on the Medical Rehab Unit at the Hospital for Special Care who gave the utmost care and compassion to Joan during the last few weeks of her life. It will never be forgotten.
