James William Burr, age 64, of Middletown, died peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on Monday afternoon, November 19, 2019 after a long fight with kidney disease.
Born and raised in Monroe, Connecticut, Jim was the eldest son of the late George and Florence Burr. Jim was a Vietnam War Veteran and retired from the State of Connecticut.
James is survived by son William and daughter-in-law Crystal Burr of Wolcott and their two children; Jim’s only grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, Jim leaves his brothers Kenneth Burr of Morris and Richard Burr of Middletown, as well as, his sisters Kathleen and brother-in-law John Kerkes of Southbury and Bethann Burr of Waterbury. He also leaves five nephews and a niece, Justin and James Tito, Alex, Zack and Cassandra Burr.
Jim had many interests and hobbies. He was a collector and loved his music. He enjoyed visiting with family and outings with his grandchildren. He will be missed by many.
Calling hours will be held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, on Saturday, December 14th from 3 pm to 5 pm. The family will have a private funeral ceremony set for early spring with military honors.
