Howard Miller, a recently retired IT executive and a long-time resident of Southbury, CT, died unexpectedly on August 12, 2018, at the age of 60 while enjoying time on Highland Lake in Winsted, CT.
Howie is survived by his wife, Michele Miller; his son Chris and his girlfriend, Rachel of East Haven, CT; his son Tim and his wife Elizabeth of Hudson, MA ; and his daughter Jessica of Southbury, CT. He also leaves behind his mother, Esther Miller and 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is predeceased by his father, Howard Miller, Sr.
Howie was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on June 11, 1958. He graduated from Clarkson College with a BS in Computer Science and from Syracuse University with an MS in Computer Science. He and Michele married on March 19, 1988, just celebrating their 30 year anniversary. After working at IBM for 33 years, he retired and subsequently worked for Ahold in Quincy, MA for 5 years. On July 27, Howie officially retired from work and was looking forward to traveling with his family.
Howie’s family was the most important thing in his life. He was the most dedicated, loving husband and father. His time spent watching and coaching his children in sports meant the world to him. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake - boating, waterskiing, and wake surfing – and cherished all opportunities to travel with his wife and children. Howie will be forever missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A memorial service is scheduled 4:00-8:00 on August 16 at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home at 235 Main St. North, Southbury, CT. The funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury at 11:00 on August 17. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Howie’s name to the Special Olympics.
