Diane E Shortt

March 23, 1959 ~ July 6, 2017 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Former Sales Executive; Devoted to and Loved by Family and Friends

Diane E. Shortt, 58, formerly of Middlebury, was called to the Lord on July 6, 2017, following a long illness.

Diane was born on March 23, 1959, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Robert J. Shortt and Bernadette M. (Miscavage) Shortt, and was raised in Middlebury. She was a graduate of Pomperaug High School, Southbury, and Georgetown University.  Diane carved out a successful career in management, leading sales teams at Waterbury Rolling Mills, Inc., and The Miller Company, Meriden, and earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the Hartford branch of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Diane is survived by her sisters, Barbara Moore and her husband, John, of Wakefield, R.I.; and Nancy Leardi and her husband, Roger, of Columbia, Connecticut; her brothers, Mark Shortt and his life partner, Dava Johnson, of Bethel; and Steven Shortt and his wife, Cynthia, of Torrington. She is also survived by her nieces, Sarah Moore, Jordan Shortt, and Alexandra Shortt; and her nephews, Luke Johnson, Jack Moore, Michael Leardi, and Andrew Leardi.

Diane was predeceased by her sister, Carole Ann (Shortt) Johnson.

Known for her vibrant laugh and a smile that could brighten the darkest of hours, Diane brought to her family and friends — her greatest joys in life — a generosity of spirit that knew no limits. She loved nothing more than lending a helping hand, providing words of encouragement, or sharing a laugh with those she loved.

Diane always had room for one more friend. She truly saw the good in people, hearing the richness of “the music of life” and living courageously to the end.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and will never be forgotten.

The family thanks the dedicated caregivers of the Alzheimer’s Resource Center of Connecticut for their unwavering and compassionate care during Diane’s time of need.
