Daryl Austin Obituary

Daryl Laneville Austin

12/1/1949-12/3/2019

Daryl lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on December 3, 2019, at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT. Daryl was born in Waterbury, CT to Mary (Zuraitis) and Daniel Laneville Sr.

Daryl was raised in Watertown, Ct and graduated from Watertown High School. She obtained her Masters in Elementary Education from Western CT State University. She was employed by The Charcoal Chef in Woodbury, CT where she worked as a waitress and dedicated over fifty years to the restaurant. Daryl retired just this year leaving behind a work family and customers that truly loved her.

Daryl had many talents. She was creative and often could be found sewing and creating art for her family and friends. She looked forward to going to horse races each summer and fall with Mike. She loved dancing, music, and was always the life of the party. Daryl loved the beach, Maine, reading, and cooking. Most of all, though, she loved her family and spending time with the people who meant the most to her.

She is survived by her son Kerry W. Austin of Oakville, her daughter Amber Austin and her fiancé Matt Cook of Waterbury, and her pride and joy, her grandson Anthony Battaglia Jr. of Waterbury. She is also survived by her partner Mike Kern of Oakville, and her sisters and their spouses Dana and Paul Amaral of Watertown, and Lucinda and Paul Bytautas of Oakville. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by her brother Daniel Laneville Jr. and by her parents Mary and Daniel Laneville.

Calling hours will be Sunday, December 8th, 2019, at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Woodbury, CT from 3-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund set up for her grandson Anthony in her memory. Contributions can be made to the Anthony Battaglia Education Fund at Thomaston Savings Bank.  A memorial mass will be held in the future at her family’s convenience.
