Bernard Gallagher Obituary

Bernard Thomas Gallagher, 74, of Southbury, CT, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019. He was born on April 23, 1945 in the Bronx, NY, to the late John and Mary Gallagher of Donegal and Arranmore, Ireland. Bernard was a Vietnam veteran and worked for multiple publications in advertising including Yankee Magazine and The Old Farmers Almanac. Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gere; his three children Daniel, Michael, and Sarah; his two sisters, Grace Kiely and Patricia McElhone, and several other loving family members.

Bernard was a fun-loving man with a friendly smile and a dad joke always ready. He lovingly called his wife Jellybean. He watched Seinfeld and The History Channel, and loved telling stories of his experiences in Vietnam. Bernie was the family-favorite chef, always in the kitchen cooking to the Beatles or Paul Simon. He loved cheeseburgers but hated mayonnaise. He smiled easily and could often be caught playing Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. Everyone who knew him will miss his quick-wit and warm heart.
