Arthur William Wallander, Jr.

Arthur W. Wallander Jr., 85, of Roxbury, died February 5th at Danbury Hospital. He was the son of the late Arthur W. and Berneice Wallander. Prior to moving to Roxbury, Arthur was a long time resident of New York City where he was a Commercial Realtor. He was an active member of the Brick Presbyterian Church, and served on the Vestry, the Usher Volunteer Committee and the Men’s Club. He graduated from Trinity Preparatory School and then Columbia University. As a young man, he was an avid sailor often found sailing in the waters of Long Island Sound. He was a member of the Grotto Masonic Lodge in NYC and served as a Grand Master. He was an avid gardener and member of the Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Spencer of Woodbury, CT and Rosalind Renouard of Bainbridge Island, WA as well as his nieces Dorothy Spencer, Gail Spencer, Jacqueline Chipman and nephews George Spencer and John Renouard. Calling hours will be held Saturday February 11, 2016, from 11:00 to 12:00 at Christ Episcopal Church, 4 Weller’s Bridge Rd, Roxbury with a Funeral Service at 12:00. Burial will follow at Roxbury Center Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made in honor of Arthur to the Bridgewater Senior Center, 132 Hut Hill Road, Bridgewater, CT 06752 as well as the Roxbury-Bridgewater Garden Club, P.O. Box 130, Roxbury, CT  06783.
