Formally from Woodbury CT, Annabelle (Smith) Lyle 80 passed into Heaven on December 11, 2019 at Masonic Home in Newtown. She was born April 9, 1939 in Waterbury on a snowy blizzard day and died December 11, 2019 on a snowy day. She was the daughter of late Anna and Leon Smith.
Annabelle grew up in Naugatuck attending the local schools. Annabelle was blessed with a beautiful soprano singing voice. She sang in the High School Choir and was a member of the “Concert Choir” singing many solos. She graduated in the class of 1957. she furthered her education at Boston University where she received a BA degree. She enjoyed writing. During her youth she was active in Rainbow Girls and the Girl Scouts. In Naugatuck she attended St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. After moving to Woodbury, she was a very active member of ST. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She proudly served on the alter guild. Annually she and her family worked on the church fair along Rt.6 in Woodbury. Annabelle loved to entertain and to try gourmet cooking. Her door was always open to friends and family.
She retired from Comsat, a Satellite Communication Company in Southbury. Annabelle is survived by her son; Richard Lyle and friend Sandy of Southbury. She was predeceased by her son Douglas Lyle. She had two grandsons Andrew Lyle, and his wife Samantha of Southbury, and Christopher Lyle of Virginia, and one great granddaughter, Olivia. She is also survived by two cousins Richard Mortensen and Linda Hankins.
A memorial service will be held at St. Pauls Church in Woodbury on January 18, 2020 at 11 am, with reception to follow. Private burial will take place in the spring. To leave an online condolence please visit www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
