June Hinson Tschauder, 93, long-time resident of Southbury, CT, passed away peacefully Monday, January 17, 2022.

 She was born June 29, 1928, with first name “Marilyn” which was legally changed to “June” shortly afterwards. June was the daughter of the late Jay B. Hinson and Lucille (Dickson) Hinson. She grew up in White Plains NY before meeting her future husband when she was staying with friends in Southbury, CT.

June was a proud co-founder of the Ladies Auxiliary Southbury VFD and a communicant of South Britain Congregational Church. At one time she had a cottage industry where she created terrariums with partridge berries, mosses and princess pine and sold them in New York City.  She was a lifelong genealogist that created thick volumes for posterity. She became an early user of computer technology for this purpose. June loved going to tag sales and coming home with treasures.  She enjoyed travelling across country to Montana and Alaska and vacationing in Eastbrook, ME on Molasses Pond. She was a devoted grandparent.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Lee Tschauder, her husband Sanford Tschauder, her siblings Jay B Hinson Jr., Jacquelyn Fincham, John Hinson, her sisters-in-law Gladys Burdick, June Hinson, and her brothers-in-law Charles Burdick and Wallace Fincham.

She is survived by her daughter Joy Hodge and husband Bud, her son Todd Tschauder and wife Coleen, Noreen Todd (widow of Lee) and husband John Turbak, grandchildren Cory Hodge and wife Beth, Darby Hodge and wife Stephanie, Aaron Hodge and wife Megan, Bonnie Hodge and husband Norman, Ellyn Beyer and husband Corden, Keenan Tschauder, Rebecca Sherman and husband Graham, Kylee Brouillard and husband Ken, Sandra Stankiewicz and husband Jason, Sharon Yuan and husband Jim, her sisters-in-law Jane Hinson and Karen Hinson, 14 Great grandchildren, 3 Great-Great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

She also leaves behind the children of dear friend Natalie Hardison of Waltham, ME for whom she became a second mother after Natalie’s untimely death, Mark Hardison, Beverly Reed, Douglas Hardison, Thomas Hardison and Todd Hardison.

A Celebration of life gathering will be held on Molasses Pond, Eastbrook, ME this summer.
