Trudy Seagraves, age 85, of Pomperaug Woods, Southbury, died peacefully on October 19, 2017 at Pomperaug Woods Health Center. A daughter of the late Hal E. and Mildred B. Seagraves, Trudy was born in Flushing, N.Y. on May 9, 1932.  After the family relocated to Connecticut, Trudy attended local schools and graduated from New Canaan High School. Trudy also attended Winthrop University, the University of Connecticut, Stamford and Sarah Lawrence College.  Trudy worked for Cliggott Publishing as a medical editor and later engaged in freelance editing work.

Trudy is survived by her sisters and brother, Catherine Alvary, Sharon Carr and Edward Seagraves.  She is also survived by her children, Susan Stanley, and Lynn, John and Paul Hertz and their spouses, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Trudy was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and for many years sang in church choirs, local concerts and light opera performances. She also studied oil painting and was an accomplished portraitist. In 2016 she was awarded first price for her portrait “Mother and Child” at the Pomperaug Art Show.     

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Pomperaug Woods Health Center and Nancy Buck, R.N. of Masonicare Hospice for their loving care for Trudy during her final illness.

A Celebration of Trudy’s Life will be held at Pomperaug Woods, 80 Heritage Road, Southbury CT on Sunday October 29, 2017 from 2-4 in the afternoon.  Trudy was a life-long lover of animals; in lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution to your local Humane Society or any animal rescue organization. Munson Lovetere Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
