Stanley Rushton, 85 years old of Southbury, CT, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2017. He was
born December 16, 1931, in Blackpool, England, one of seven children born to the late Millicent and
Fredric Rushton. Stanley was married to the love of his life, Lee Rushton for 60 years. After leaving
the British Royal Navy in 1956, he and his new bride made their way to the United States in 1957,
eventually settling in Danbury, Ct.
Stanley worked in public accounting for many years. After raising their boys and moving to Southbury,
he and Lee continued to participate in many different clubs and organizations. He enjoyed gardening,
cooking and ballroom dancing with Lee, but his true passion was painting and he devoted many years
to his art. An exceptional artist, Stanley served as President of the Brush and Pencil Club. He enjoyed
sharing his knowledge with others and taught a very popular painting class in the village.
Stanley was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was a devoted husband to his wife Lee,
and a loving father, father in law, and grandfather. He leaves his three sons, Neil (Tracey) Rushton of
Middlebury, CT, Barnaby (Kathy) Rushton of Longmont, CO, and Andrew (Noemi) Rushton of New
Milford, CT. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Mitchell, Mathew, Ryan, Kaitlyn,
Drew and Paige Rushton.
