Southbury- Ruth Hecht , resident of the Watermark in Southbury, died Saturday July 6, 2019 at Danbury Hospital. She was 92 years old. Born in 1926, in Esslingen Germany, Ruth was a German citizen, and later a permanent resident of the United States. Ruth’s parents were Otto and Luise Schaible. Ruth was educated in Esslingen and started her career at Roth and Muller, machine builders, in 1944. She remained employed there until 1959 in the export department managing the German, English and French business correspondence. Married to Erich A. Hecht in 1954, they emigrated to the United States in 1963. Settling in the outskirts of Philadelphia, she took on the role of stay at home mother, raising the Hecht’s only child Thomas. Ruth remained married to Erich until his passing in 1999. Ruth was an outstanding cook, and avid reader. Ruth enjoyed travelling and returned to Germany many times. She also travelled the western United States, and the southern states. Ruth was a beloved mother and grandmother who happily shared her home and time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Thomas, Daughter-in-law Alice and two grand-children Peter and Trevor Hecht, residents of Woodbury. Graveside services will take place Friday July 12th at 1:00 P.M at New North Cemetery, Woodbury, CT.
