Marion Edgar

Marion Edgar died April 28, 2017 at Masonicare in Newtown from complications of vascular dementia.  It’s a horrific disease that increasingly stole her sanity, emotions and bodily control over 40 months.

She was born in NYC on August 26, 1926 to the late Peter and Catherine (Olchowa) Gurnik.  She spent most of her life in Meriden, CT graduating from Meriden High School.  In 1992 she moved to Southbury.  In her twenties she worked as an operator for SNET, a job she loved.  In 1985 she retired from CIGNA’s Medicare claims office in Wallingford.

She enjoyed going to the theater as well as traveling visiting such places as Rio de Janeiro, Thailand, Viet Nam, Russia, and her favorite, Egypt.  She also loved tatting beautiful doilies and animals, especially dogs.

She was predeceased by her son, Guy Edgar Jr., in 1975.  She is survived by her daughter and caregiver for all but the last few months of her life, Cynthia Edgar, and her granddog, Rosc. All services are private and at the convenience of the family.
