Maria N Stone

Woodbury—Maria N. Stone passed away on Friday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Allen Stone and cherished mother of Alexander Stone, both of Woodbury.

Maria was born in Moscow, Russia, where she earned her nursing degree before coming to America in 1992. She still has many family members, including sisters and nephews and nieces, and their children, in Moscow.

Maria will be remembered for so many things, including her vibrant personality and great zest for life. She loved meeting new people and spending quality time with friends and family. She loved America, her adopted home, yet she never relinquished those beautiful customs and traditions of her birth country.

Maria loved to travel. She cruised all over the world with her son and husband, and leaves dear friends in many countries. She was an avid sportswoman, and excelled at many sports. She loved to hike and enjoyed nature to the fullest. She relished good food and international cuisine.

She touched so many lives and leaves countless memories and smiles with those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, May 24 at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home in Woodbury, 2 School Street, from 7PM to 9PM, and again on Thursday, May 25 from 10AM to 11PM. A service will be held on 11AM, followed by a burial at New North Cemetery, in Woodbury.
