Madeleine was always a burst of energy. She loved to talk about her "sonny boy", Michael. She was warm, caring , and a great friend. She loved being outdoors and had endless energy. She prepared many meals for us at her home in Algonquin. Anytime Nilda needed a shopping companion, Madeleine was always ready to go.

Moving east was so exciting for her. She was thrilled to be by her son.

Madeleine loved life. Our condolences to Mike. Your mom was awesome !

I was saddened to learn about Madeleine's passing. I drive the bus for Heritage Village that Madeleine often rode to go shopping. Had no idea she was such a famous cook! We had nice Swiss conversations as my late mother-in-law was born is Basel. Always smiling, Madeleine brought sunshine to those who had trouble adapting to their elderly stage of life. My sincere sympathy.

Mike,
I was sadden to learn of your mom's passing.

More than 40 years have passed since I sat at her table and
enjoyed her cooking which was always flavorful and satisfying.
Her food was always delicious because it was steeped and infused
with love and care for her family. I just happened to be a fortunate guest who by my mere presence benefited from that love and care.

I, along with your other friends, always envied your good fortune.
Not all men have mothers like Madeleine. Always caring, always gracious, always
nurturing. She protected you to the nth degree because her love for you was boundless.
Not all men are loved like that by their mothers.

I remember her as a devoted wife full of wit and humor who cared for her husband with equal love and affection. Mr. Varrin was so lucky to have had her a a wife all his life.

No words of mine that can assuage your pain but perhaps you can take some degree comfort in knowing that while your parents were on this earth, you were a blessed individual who was surrounded and cared for by the best parents any man could have. Madeleine had a full life and she lived it to the fullest.

I am confident she had no regrets when her hour came. Perhaps she looked forward to her reunion with her husband.

So, Madeleine, sic itur ad astra.

Henceforth, Mike, as long as you have a heartbeat you can be sure that in your sleep she will remind you that non omnis moriar.

Respectfully and sincerely,
Alfredo "Che" Guevara MD JD FACS

Though i have never met your Dear Mom she sounds like a person whom had a great zeal for life. Your Moms 92 years shows she also had great mightiness. May you also have that same strength that allows you to stand strong to face this challenge of such a great loss to you and family . I look forward to the day when no one will say I am sick.
