On January 13, 2018, Lawrence R. Zingo passed away peacefully at his home in Southbury, CT, with his loving son Michael with him. Larry faced his ‘cancer battle’ with courage & dignity- putting his strong faith, trust & belief in The Lord to walk through it with him.
Born in Bridgeport, CT on January 29, 1951, into a 9th generation Italian family, Larry grew up in Trumbull, CT. He spoke with pride & fondness of his Italian Heritage & childhood memories to those who knew him. He and his father had a popular roadside stand, in front of their home, selling their vegetable garden’s bounty- most remembered were the colossal-sized tomatoes!
A graduate of Trumbull High School, Larry spent the major part of his working career dedicating 25 years of state service to Connecticut’s Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services. As a para-professional- Mental Health Associate, Larry truly had a gift in caring for those less fortunate than he. His compassion, keen ability to size up a situation & quick wit in adding his ‘on the spot’ humor, served him & those around him well.
The youngest of 5 siblings, Larry was predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo James & Helen Beatrice, as well as an older brother James Vincenzo (‘Jimmy boy’). Surviving family members include 2 sisters- Connie Kraus of Bethlehem, CT, along with her son Kurt, also of Bethlehem- another sister, Joan Huff of South Carolina, & her children Michael & Andrea- & another brother Joseph from Eugene, OR.
He will be deeply missed by his only son Michael L. Zingo of Port Charlotte, FL-residing there with his wife Jeanette & their daughter, Mikayla.
His longtime love & friend, Nora Cappiello will forever hold him in her heart…his walk, his wit, his style & his smile…meet you on the other side…♥
