Justine Clark

Justine Clark, 97, died reluctantly on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. The daughter of Ellis and Ila Clark, Justine grew up in Woodbury, CT and graduated from Connecticut College

with a Degree in Physical Education. She taught at Hall High School for 15 years and Conard High School in West Hartford, CT for 20 years before retiring in 1977 so she could have more fun! She enjoyed cross country skiing, golf, tennis, dancing, and played golf into her 90’s. She was a Master Bridge player and challenged her intellectual curiosity by always reading. She loved to travel and explore the world, participating in more than 50 Elderhostels since 1980. In 1959, she spent the summer in Hawaii when it first became a state so she could teach her students the hula upon her return. In 1965, her destination was Alaska. She paid $100 to drive from Detroit to Fairbanks and spent the summer exploring Nome, Barrow and traversed 1200 miles of dirt road to hike the Gold Path to Lake Bennett. Justine credited her longevity to leading a healthy life style and following her parent’s advice... moderation in all things. She is predeceased by a sister, Myrle (Clark) Rohan, and leaves behind many loving friends and family.  In lieu of flowers, please take a walk and enjoy nature as Justine did.  A memorial service will be held on May 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ Congregational, 1075 Main St., Newington, CT. The burial will be private.  A heartfelt thank you to all who helped Justine have a wonderful life and a peaceful passing.
