Elsa M. Weyburn, 97, of Pomperaug Woods, Southbury, died peacefully on February 1. She was the wife of the late Reed A. Weyburn. Elsa was born July 16, 1920 in Ardmore, PA, daughter of the late Frederick K. and Elsa (Schaefer) Mohr. Elsa graduated from The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA, and Wheelock College in Boston, MA.
After working for the Saturday Evening Post and the Eisenhower White House, Elsa married Reed in 1955. They moved to Connecticut where Elsa was an active volunteer for the League of Women Voters, Girl Scouts, Woodbury Interfaith Elderly Housing Corporation, and The Glebe House Museum and Gertrude Jekyll Garden. She was a master gardener and a wonderful cook.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and needlepoint. She had been a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodbury since 1963.
Elsa is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Carr (Matthew) and Elizabeth Morrill (Richard), three grandchildren, Sarah, Reed, and Caleb Carr, two step-grandsons, Geoff Morrill, Paul Gray (Lauren), and two step-great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Sally) and Frederick (Nancy) Mohr, and Ruth Weyburn Parker.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday February 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M, with a service being held at 3:00P.M., at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home. 2 School Street, Woodbury. Burial will be in the New North Cemetery, Woodbury, May 5th at 12:00 PM
