Dorothy Ann Crawford died at River Glen HealthCare Facility on October 8, 2017, following a brief illness. Dorothy, or Dot as known to her friends, was born on February 13, 1922 in Ossining, New York, and was the daughter of Eugene Savage, artist and sculpture, and Matilda Freitag, physician, who lived in Woodbury, CT.

Dorothy Ann graduated from Marymount College, located in Tarrytown, New York, completing a four year degree and assisted her father in many of his commissioned art and sculpture endeavors throughout the world. She volunteered as a home economics sewing teacher for many years at Woodbury High School in the mid 1970’s and was a student of Egyptology with a visit to Egypt. She was a great friend to neighbors and associates, and always treated friends and family to her home cooking. She befriended many stray animals and was known to bring a stray dog home for care following her local shopping trips.

Dorothy Ann was the wife to Raymond Crawford, deceased, and is survived by her sons, Eugene Crawford and Ted Crawford, her daughter in law, Julianna Crawford, grandson Ted Crawford and his wife Nancy and great grandchildren Sean and Emily Crawford.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the expert, friendly and very special care that Dorothy Ann received at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, CT. This became her last place of residence and in so many ways she felt that it was her home. Munson Lovetere Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and all services are private.
