Dearest Deedle, I didn't know; I just came across this online. I'm glad you and your sister and your mother can be together now. I love you all. I kiss my Carole for me, and here's one for you. XO. God bless you, honey.

Dear Shortt Family,
My Dad Richard Munson worked with with Diane at the Waterbury Rolling Mills. We were shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. My Dad worked for the Waterbury Rolling Mills for 43 years and brought Diane to our picnic area shortly before he retired. I wanted to share this story with you because he was so fond of her . He only brought one other person home to meet us in all those years. He told us how bright she was and that she had gone to Georgeton. He had so much respect for her. When we finally met her we all agreed that she was a very nice and special person. The story doesn't end there. My Dad who worked for 43 years without ever taking a sick day had not received anything when retiring. Upon hearing this, Diane took the initiative and got him an engraved watch. I think stories like this tell so much about a persons character and we are so saddened to know that her life was so short. She had so much more good to do in the world and we mourn your loss.
Sincerely,
Maureen Munson-Bette

In my minds eye I still see Diane as she was more than 40 years ago - Carole's cheeky little sister blessed , as all the Shortt family seemed to be, with great intelligence and a lightness of spirit.
I am so sorry to hear the news - my thoughts are with you at this time

Can't express how sorry I am for this tremendous loss. I had the great privilege to be part of Diannes life through High School and after. She had to be one of the kindest people I have ever known. Always smiling, gentle, caring and an overall happy person. Beautiful inside and out. My condolences to all her family.

Barbara introduced her sister Diane to Gwen and I when Jack and Sarah were still very young. We were immediately drawn to Diane's warm smile, her wonderful wit, her obvious sense of wonder for the world around her, and in particular, her great love for Barbara and John's children. I have always enjoyed making people laugh, especially those for whom laughter is at the very heart of their being. I quickly found Diane's laughter could fill the entire house with joy, so I tried to get as much of that great gift from Diane as I could! Life can be very difficult at times, and people like Diane make the difficult times easier. Diane's wonderful laughter has already been missed by all of us for far too long, but we will remember her great smile, and find happiness knowing Diane has finally found the peace she so greatly deserves. I feel certain Diane's laughter is bringing smiles to heaven at this very moment.

The Shortt family is one of the nicest families I have ever known in my entire life. I only have great memories of Diane at Memorial Grammar School, Pomperaug High, and during the college years and beyond. Always smiling, fun, generous, friendly, smart, good-natured, trustworthy and kind. I was incredibly saddened by the news, and feel so lucky and blessed to have known her. Love, Bob

I was so sad to hear of Diane's passing. I was very fond of her in High School, and spoke with her last at our 20th High School Reunion, 20 years ago. I tried to stay in contact, but it didn't work out and I deeply regret this, but I always thought that somehow, some day, we'd meet up again. My condolences to her family - she was a truly lovely, very special person.

To the family of Diane, I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Diane as my mom lived in the same unit as her at the Alzheimer's Resource Center. With Diane being so close in age to my mother, I felt especially close to her. Her smile and laugh was so beautiful and contagious and always lit me up. I am grateful to have known her in the capacity that I did for the last couple years. My prayers are with your family.
