Welcome to the memorial page for

Carl Richard Pearce

December 25, 1938 ~ April 11, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Carl Richard Pearce, a resident of Woodbury, Connecticut, died on April 11, 2017 at age 78 after a brief illness. He was born on Christmas Day in Neptune, New Jersey to Howard and Virginia Pearce. After graduating from Manasquan High School, Carl served in the Air Force as a mechanic. He spent much of his active duty at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. Upon leaving the service in 1964, Carl earned his pilot’s license in Norman, Oklahoma at American Flyers. After an early career flying for Command Airways in the Hudson Valley, he transitioned from commercial to corporate aviation. He joined the Unisys Corporation (formerly Sperry Corporation) in 1979 as a Captain, where he worked until he retired in 2002. In 1981, Carl married Chris Ann Holgate, and they lived in Greenwich, Connecticut prior to moving to Woodbury, Connecticut in 1983. Carl loved animals, nature, and was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to fish and bow hunt, especially in his early years. His nicknames were “The Weatherman” and “Mr. Fix It”, as he was an amateur meteorologist and could fix virtually anything. Carl’s life was full of good fortune and he always remained cool under pressure. Although a worldwide traveler, he was happiest at home spending time with his family and his dog, Callie. Carl was a lover of corny jokes, slapstick humor, Western movies and television shows.

Carl is survived by his wife of 36 years, Chris Holgate Pearce of Woodbury, CT; his daughters, Taylor Gibson (Gibby) Pearce of Wolcott, CT and Porter Carlisle (Carly) Pearce of Norwalk, CT, and his daughters from a previous marriage, Holly Pearce Rosado (Bernabe Rosado) of Poughkeepsie, NY and Jackie Pearce Burger (Robert Burger) of Bangall, NY; two grandchildren Matthew Shaw of Bangor, ME and Braeden Burger of Bangall, NY.

Services are private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the National Audubon Society. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School Street assisted the family with the arrangements.
