BETHLEHEM – Barbara J. Quigley, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Fennelly T. Quigley. Barbara was born on May 25, 1940 in Doylestown, P.A., the daughter of the late Frank and Virginia (Servis) Von Webern. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years until retirement.

On February. 23, 1963, Barbara married her best friend and the love of her life, Fennelly Thomas Quigley, and together, they celebrated almost 53 years as man and wife.

From 1970 to 1974, she was the Assistant Charge Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery, at The University of Tennessee Research Center and Hospital, Knoxville, TN.  While there, she was highly instrumental in the establishment of their Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (only the second in the country at the time). From 1974 to 1976, Barbara was Charge Nurse at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville, TN. And from 1976 to 1978, she became the Staff Nurse at the Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Over the next 22 years, after making Connecticut her home, Barbara held Nursing positions at the Child Care Centers of Waterbury, CT., the Lutheran Home of Southbury, CT., the Griffin Hospital Emergency Room, Derby, CT., Abbott Terrace Health Care Center, Waterbury, CT., and the Greenery of Cheshire, Cheshire, CT.

Barbara was a Girl Scout Leader, former Red Cross CPR and basic First Aid instructor, volunteered for the Bethlehem Volunteer Ambulance Association, and an avid football fan.

After moving to Connecticut, she and her husband Fennelly, established the Corrie-Togg Farm in Bethlehem, CT.  They raised sheep, goats and took in her beloved retirement horses, Nit Fly and Strawberry, who became a big part of the family. Always doing her best to help all animals in need, she often took in a variety of wayward animals.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Bridget Blakley (Quigley); her son Michael Quigley and his wife, Karen Quigley. She is also survived by her sisters Peggy Knight; Mary Mulligan; Kathleen Von Webern; and Jamie Brown; many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues; and her three loving dogs.

A funeral Mass in celebration of Barbara's life will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, December 29, at the Church of the Nativity, 48 East St, Bethlehem, CT., 06751. All other services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home of Woodbury.
