Ary Reed

Ary Reed, 92 years old, passed away on May 15 at the River Glen Nursing Home in Southbury, Connecticut. For 20 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Bernice Reed of Southbury, CT.

Ary was born on October 20, 1924 in Long Island, NY to Rosica and Gustav Rosenfelder. He was predeceased by his brother George Reed and his sister Claire Wozasek. Ary was a business executive, first with the family’s business supplying Danbury’s then thriving hat manufacturing industry and later as the founder of Mind/Matter; a developer and supplier of innovative math education tools for schools. He served in the Army in World War II and was stationed in the U.S. Ary enjoyed skiing, music, and, most of all, food. The latter was a love that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Ary also leaves behind Glenn Reed of Carlisle, MA; Evan and Stefanie Reed of Miami, FL; and Claudia Reed of Wayland, MA; all from his first marriage to the late Heidi (Heller) Reed. In addition to his three loving children, he enjoyed the company of his seven grandchildren: Nikki, Maia, Lea, Andrew, Rebecca, Davi, and Kayla. A graveside service will be held at the United Jewish Center Cemetery in Brookfield, CT on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
