Angela Schmidt

Angela Schmidt age 71 of Woodbury, CT died at home on Jan. 30,2017 after a long battle with cancer.  She was the loving wife of William Schmidt, MD.  She was born Sept. 24, 1945 in Calabria, Italy and moved to the United States in 1974.  She became an American citizen but never lost her love for Italy.  She lived in Calabria until she was a teenager when she moved to Rome.  She studied to become a pediatric nurse and worked privately for several years.  She met her husband in Rome and was married in 1974.  In the US she worked as a medical office manager and cared for her family.

She is survived by her husband William, her son Adam and her daughter Elena.  She has two granddaughters Brea and Angela.  She has 4 great-grandchildren Kitana, Tiana, Chase and Mason.  Her surviving siblings are Palmira, Franca and a brother Vladamiro.  She was predeceased by her two other brothers Stano and Giovanni.

She requested not to have a viewing.  A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at 11 am at St. Teresa's church in Woodbury.  A reception will be held in her home afterwards.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Foundation  (eraseibc.com) or to the Smilow Cancer Center in Torrington, CT.
