Alyce M. (Zeishner) Jodice, 91, of Southbury, CT, formerly of Lakeland, FL and Lexington, MA, died peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was the wife of the late Benjamin A. Jodice. Mrs. Jodice was born August 17, 1926 in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late John and Marguerite (Wright) Zeishner. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Zeishner.

Alyce was the Valedictorian of the class of 1944 at Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT. She received her Registered Nursing Diploma from Massachusetts General Hospital in 1947.  She married Ben on April 9, 1949 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage, raising two children and serving others together right up until his death in 2009. As a nurse she worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA and Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, MA and for the last eight years of her career as a school nurse in Carlisle, MA. Her time as a school nurse brought her deep satisfaction.  She and Ben retired to Lakeland, FL in 1990 where she continued to give back to her community by volunteering for Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine. She was an active and faithful member of Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA and First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL.

A loving and committed mother to her two children, she was thrilled to become Joshua’s grandmother when she was 77 years old, a role that brought much joy to her life. She leaves behind her son, David Jodice (Min Kim) of Vienna, VA and Lutz, FL and her daughter Karen Jodice (Helen Falcone) of Southbury CT and her grandson Joshua Peiffer of Southbury CT. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sandra Jodice, many nieces and nephews and close friends. Her family extends infinite gratitude to the staff at the Lutheran Home of Southbury for providing competent and compassionate care for Alyce for more than 7 years until her final day. Most important to Alyce the Lutheran Home of Southbury continued to nurture her faith.
