Janet M. Auresto, 95, of Southbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late John C. Auresto. Born on August 1, 1928, in Rushville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Myers and Mildred Newman Myers. After meeting her husband John, who was serving in the Army in Rushville, Indiana, they married in 1946 and relocated to Yonkers, New York, where they raised four children.
Janet, always an avid reader, passed down her love of reading to her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed bowling and golfing. After her retirement, she spent time working on large jigsaw puzzles, going to bingo and the casinos. She often made trips back to Indiana to visit relatives and friends. Most of all, Janet loved to spend time with her family. In between all her activities, she lovingly crocheted afghans for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss her wonderful rice pudding, cream cheese cookies, and Sunday gravy with the best meatballs ever.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Stephen D. Auresto, and her sisters, Mary Hensley and Betty Borders.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Linda Klose and her husband Ted of Southbury, JoAnn Manuli and her husband Rocco of Oakville, son John A. Auresto and his wife Margaret of New York, and daughter-in-law Theresa Auresto of Southbury. Janet will be missed by her five grandchildren, Lori-Ann Lamson, Diane Melinosky, Stephen J. Auresto, John C. Auresto and Nicholas J. Auresto, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all who affectionately called her Mimi, and several nieces and nephews.
Death takes the body. God takes the soul. Our mind holds the memories. Our hearts keep the love.
Memorial visitation will take place Friday, April 19, 2024 from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home located 235 Main St. N. Southbury, CT.
